What Are Deamhan?
Long before written history, vampires ravaged ancient civilizations, preying upon the weak, stealing infants from their mothers, and leaving villages in ruin. Their reign of terror reached Sumer, where desperate humans turned to Iara gods for salvation. But the gods did not answer.
The turning point came when the vampires took the life of a Kashshapu’s son—a powerful priest and practitioner of dark magic. Consumed by grief, the Kashshapu called upon the Iara, spirits of magic, who granted him the knowledge to create a new kind of being: the Deamhan.
Harnessing dark magic, the Kashshapu selected four humans to become the first Deamhan—the Pure Ones—each imbued with unique predatory abilities. These four were the Ramanga, Lamia, Metusba, and Lugat, creatures designed to battle vampires.
However, the plan failed. The Deamhan did not remain loyal. They turned on humans, driven by their own hunger and desire for dominance.
In desperation, the Kashshapu sought to undo his mistake. Calling upon the Iara once more, he created a second generation of Deamhan, even more formidable than the first—Adze, Ekimmu, Empusa, and Estrie—to combat both the original Deamhan and vampires alike.
But history repeated itself. These new Deamhan, like their predecessors, abandoned their purpose and set their own course, preying upon humans, vampires, and each other.
The human king, weary of the chaos, ordered the Kashshapu to undo what he had done. When neither light nor wood could harm the Deamhan, the Kashshapu turned to magic once more. He created Limbo, an astral plane outside of time, to imprison the eight Pure Ones. To further protect humanity, he forged amulets capable of shielding against Deamhan influence.
Before his execution, the Kashshapu documented his dark rituals on a clay tablet, encoding the spells used to create and imprison the Deamhan. The tablet was lost for centuries, only to reappear in history a thousand years later. Fearing its power, those who discovered it broke it in two, ensuring the magic could never again be fully harnessed.
Yet, the Deamhan survived. Though the Pure Ones were sealed away, their offspring walked the earth, spreading their kind throughout history.
One fragment of the legendary Dark Curse Tablet contains the spell that bound the Pure Ones to Limbo and cursed them to the dark. But within its inscriptions also lies the key to undoing that curse—spells capable of breaking them free and removing Deamhan weaknesses.
The secrets of the Deamhan are buried deep in history, but one truth remains: they were never meant to exist, yet they refuse to be forgotte
The Origin of All Dark Supernatural Beings
Deamhan were only the beginning. The same dark magic that created the Deamhan is responsible for all dark supernatural beings that exist in this world. This ancient force, wielded recklessly in desperation, gave rise to creatures beyond human comprehension—shapeshifters, wraiths, shadow spirits, Impa, and beings of nightmares. Some were born from forgotten rituals, others emerged from curses woven into reality itself.
The Deamhan, however, were the first. They are the foundation upon which all others followed—unintended consequences of a power too great to control.
The Deamhan Clans
The Deamhan are divided into two primary generations—each created for battle, each distinct in their abilities and nature.
The First Generation
These were the first Deamhan created, meant to battle vampires. They feed on both humans and vampires.
-
Ramanga
The most violent of the Deamhan, Ramanga drain the blood of their victims. They possess razor-sharp, retractable canines similar to vampires but lack the weaknesses of sunlight or wooden stakes.
-
Lamia
As brutal as Ramanga, Lamia feed by draining the life force from their victims’ mouths, reducing them to lifeless husks. They are cunning hunters, preferring children as prey.
-
Metusba
The least violent of the Deamhan, Metusba absorb the psychic aura of their victims through touch. Unlike others, they do not need to kill to survive.
-
Lugat
The most well-known Deamhan in the human world, Lugat feed on psychic imprints left by their victims. They can seamlessly integrate into human society and often prefer human company.
The Second Generation
Created to battle both vampires and the first Deamhan, these creatures are even more formidable. They can feed on humans, vampires, and other Deamhan.
-
Estrie
Ruthless and maniacal, Estrie possess piercing white eyes, elongated claws, and fangs sharper than Ramanga. They feast on blood, and their toxic blood ensures they remain dominant in the Deamhan hierarchy.
-
Ekimmu
Similar to Lamia, Ekimmu drain the life force from their victims. However, they are also masters of dark magic, making them highly dangerous.
-
Empusa
Like Lugat, Empusa feed on residual psychic energy. They are renowned for their combat prowess.
-
Adze
Feeding like Metusba, Adze consume the psychic energy of their victims through touch. Known as "Shadow Walkers," they can move undetected in darkness, making them deadly assassins.
The Lineage of the Deamhan
Each Deamhan clan traces its origins to a Pure One, the first of its kind. Below are some of the most well-known Deamhan bloodlines.
First Generation Pure Ones
- Ramanga – Megalu (Male)
- Lamia – Annadar (Male)
- Metusba – Ninla (Female)
- Lugat – Saba (Female)
Second Generation Pure Ones

Each Pure One sired numerous offspring, ensuring the spread of Deamhan influence across civilizations and time.
The Deamhan Legacy
The Deamhan are more than mere creatures of darkness. They are remnants of ancient magic, an unintended consequence of humanity’s desperation to combat an even greater evil. While some seek coexistence with humans, others remain guided by their insatiable hunger.
Yet, their existence speaks to a greater truth—dark magic
has never truly left this world. It lingers in the shadows, shaping new
horrors, creating new beings, and reminding humanity that some forces are
beyond their control.
The Deamhan were the first. They will not be the last.
Their story is one of blood, power, and survival.
